NotchMind and Google Meet.

Google Meet runs in your browser, and NotchMind treats a browser using the microphone as a call. The notch shows it with a mute button.

What it does with Google Meet

  • The call in the notch while your browser uses the microphone.
  • Mute and unmute from the notch, in any browser tab.
  • See whether your camera is on.
  • Your next Meet from Google Calendar, before it starts.

Set it up

  1. Open Settings → Meetings and make sure Calls in the notch is on. It is on by default.
  2. Start or join a call in Google Meet. When it starts using your microphone, the call appears in the notch.
  3. Open the notch and choose Mute or Unmute, or Show call to bring the call back to the front.
  4. Add your Google account in System Settings → Internet Accounts to see upcoming Meet calls from your calendar.

Good to know

  • NotchMind never opens your microphone or camera. It asks macOS which app is using them.
  • Mute works at the microphone itself, for every app at once. If you hang up muted, the microphone comes back on afterwards.
  • Some microphones can’t be muted from software. Then the notch says so; use the mute button in the call instead.
  • Chrome, Safari, Arc, Brave, Edge, Firefox, Vivaldi and Opera all count as calls while they use the microphone.
