NotchMind and Apple Music.

Apple Music in the notch: see what’s playing, skip, favorite a song and follow the lyrics, without opening the Music app.

What it does with Apple Music

  • Artwork, song and artist in the collapsed notch while Music plays.
  • Play, pause, skip, scrub and favorite from the open notch.
  • Synced lyrics in the floating player’s largest size and on the lock screen.
  • Switch the output to AirPods, a HomePod-connected display or other speakers your Mac sees.

Set it up

  1. Play something in Music. The notch shows it straight away.
  2. Grant Media Controls in Settings → General → Permissions so the buttons work.
  3. If macOS asks whether NotchMind may control Music, choose Allow; it’s used for the play state and the favorite button.
  4. To show only Apple Music, set Playback source to Apple Music in Settings → Now Playing.

Good to know

  • Apple Music can take a few seconds to confirm a favorite on streamed songs; the star stays on meanwhile.
  • Hide the favorite or output buttons with Hide favorite and Hide output device.
