Music doesn't show in the notch or the buttons don't work

Fixes for when Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music doesn't appear in the NotchMind player, or play, pause and skip do nothing.

Checked against the app on

Nothing shows while music plays

  1. Is the player on? Check Now Playing live activity in Settings → Now Playing.
  2. Is the right source chosen? If Playback source is set to one app, music from another app won’t show. Choose Any source.
  3. Is something else in front? A timer, a call or a download with a higher priority shows instead. Open the notch to see the player, or change activity priorities.
  4. Did you swipe it away? Swipe down over the notch to bring it back.
  5. Is it a full-screen app? Hide live activity in full-screen mode hides the player there.

Some players, such as certain web players, don’t tell macOS what’s playing. If the song doesn’t show in Control Centre’s Now Playing either, NotchMind can’t see it.

The buttons don’t do anything

Grant Media Controls in Settings → General → Permissions. NotchMind needs it to send play, pause and skip to the music app.

The artwork or song is out of date

Pause and play again, or skip a track, to refresh it. If it stays stuck, right-click the notch and choose Restart.
