NotchMind gets out of the way
When music, a timer or another activity shows in the collapsed notch, the notch is a little wider than the camera. When your pointer is on the menu bar right beside the notch, NotchMind tucks the activity away so the icons there show and take clicks. Hovering the camera housing itself still opens the notch.
If an activity still covers an icon, update NotchMind; this works from Build 61.
Too many icons for the space
That’s macOS, with or without NotchMind: when there are more menu bar icons than fit to the right of the notch, macOS hides the extra ones behind it. To make room:
- Hide icons you don’t need. On macOS 26 Tahoe, use System Settings → Menu Bar. On older macOS, hold ⌘ and drag an icon off the menu bar.
- Use a menu bar manager that tucks icons into a drawer, such as the free, open-source Ice.
- Shorten an app’s menus. An app with many menus pushes its own items behind the notch; Scale to fit below built-in camera in the app’s Get Info window helps.
