Secret Guard warns about something that isn't a secret

What to do when Secret Guard flags harmless text as a password or API key, how to stop one kind of warning, and how to get warnings back.

Checked against the app on

Secret Guard looks for patterns that keys and tokens follow, such as long random strings or api_key = …. Some harmless text matches too: test tokens, hashes, IDs or sample code.

Just this once

Choose Keep Once. The text stays on your clipboard so you can paste it. It still isn’t saved in clipboard history.

Stop this kind of warning

Choose Ignore This Pattern and confirm. NotchMind stops warning about that kind of secret. Use it only if you’re sure, since real secrets of that kind won’t be caught either.

Get the warnings back

Open Settings → General → Support and choose Clear Clipboard History. Besides deleting saved clipboard items, it turns every Secret Guard check back on.

It missed a real secret

Secret Guard can’t catch everything. Clear the clipboard yourself by copying something harmless, and copy passwords from a password manager, which NotchMind ignores. See Secret Guard.
