Open the notch on click, hover or press and hold

Choose how the notch opens and closes, set the hover delay, and turn on a soft haptic tick when your pointer reaches the notch.

Checked against the app on

By default the notch opens when you hover over it and closes when the pointer leaves. You can change both in Settings → General → Notch → Gestures.

How it opens

Set Expand gesture to one of:

  • Hover: opens after the pointer rests on the notch. The default.
  • Click: opens only when you click it. Good if the notch opens by accident when you reach for the menu bar.
  • Press and hold: opens when you hold the mouse button down on it.

Press and hold timing and Hover delay set how long you hold or hover before it opens. Both start at a quarter of a second.

How it closes

Set Collapse gesture to:

  • Cursor leaves: closes when you move the pointer away. The default.
  • Click: stays open until you click.

Opening a live activity

When music, a timer or another activity is showing, Expand live activity lets the same gesture open its full view where the activity has one. Turn it off to keep activities compact.

Feel it

Turn on Hover haptic feedback for a soft tick on the trackpad when the pointer enters the collapsed notch.

Prefer the keyboard?

Set an Open NotchMind shortcut in keyboard shortcuts. It opens the notch, or closes it when it’s open.
