Swipe up to hide an activity, swipe down to restore it

Hide the music player, a timer or any live activity with a swipe up over the notch, bring it back with a swipe down, or turn the gestures off.

Checked against the app on

Sometimes you want the notch empty for a while without turning a feature off.

Hide and restore

  • Swipe up with two fingers over the notch to hide the activity that’s showing.
  • Swipe down over the notch to bring back the one you hid most recently.

The activity keeps running while it’s hidden. Music keeps playing; a timer keeps counting.

With a mouse

With Mouse drag gestures on, drag the notch up to hide and down to restore.

Turn the gestures on or off

In Settings → General → Notch → Gestures:

  • Swipe up to hide and Swipe down to restore turn each direction on or off.
  • Trackpad swipe gestures and Mouse drag gestures choose which devices can do it.

Sideways swipes

A sideways swipe doesn’t hide anything. On Home it moves between pages, and on the coding agents panel it takes you to Home. See how to use the notch.
