When you press the volume or brightness keys, macOS shows a large overlay in the middle or corner of the screen. NotchMind shows the change in the notch instead, out of the way of your work.
Turn it on or off
In Settings → HUD, turn Volume HUD and Brightness HUD on or off separately. Both are on by default.
NotchMind needs the Accessibility permission to take over the keys and hide the system overlay. Grant it in Settings → General → Permissions.
Choose a style
- HUD style: Standard, Compact (the default), Minimal, Expanded Compact or Expanded Detailed.
- Indicator style: a Bar or a Circle.
- Indicator tint style: White, Level color (changes with the level, the default) or System accent.
- Indicator glow adds a soft glow around the level.
- Level-based stroke color tints the notch outline with the level color; it needs the notch outline turned on.
Duration and sound
- Brightness duration and Volume duration set how long the HUD stays after you stop pressing. Both start at 2 seconds.
- Play volume sound feedback plays the standard macOS click as you change the volume.
The old overlay still appears
Check that Accessibility is granted. Some external keyboards and displays send their own volume or brightness commands that macOS handles directly; those may still show the system overlay.
