Inbox (beta): the emails that need a reply

NotchMind's Inbox page ranks the Apple Mail messages most likely to need your reply, on your Mac. How to turn it on and what Ask Smart sends.

Checked against the app on

The Inbox page on Home lists the emails most likely to need a reply, from mail Apple Mail has already downloaded. It’s in beta.

Turn it on

  1. Grant Full Disk Access so NotchMind can read Apple Mail locally. The Inbox page offers Open Full Disk Access Settings.
  2. Open Settings → Smart Mode. Smart Inbox sits under Smart Mode, so turn on Use Smart Mode first (read what it means in Smart Mode), then turn on Smart Inbox.

When nothing needs you, it says You’re all caught up.

How it ranks

Ranking happens on your Mac, from messages NotchMind has already seen. Nothing is sent just because Inbox or Smart Mode is on.

Ask Smart

On a single message you can choose Ask Smart (✦) for a closer look. Only then is that message’s sender, subject and a shortened preview sent for classification, and only if Smart Mode is on. Messages that look like they contain a secret stay on your Mac; the page says Kept on this Mac by Secret Guard. Read Smart Mode before you turn it on.
