Some information macOS keeps in protected places that only apps with Full Disk Access can read. NotchMind needs it for three things, and only if you turn them on.
What it’s for
- Messages notifications: noticing new messages in the Messages database.
- Apple Mail notifications and the Inbox page: reading new mail from Mail’s local database.
- Focus: showing the real name and icon of your Focus mode.
If you don’t use these, you don’t need to grant it.
Grant it
- Open Settings → General → Permissions and choose Open Privacy Settings next to Full Disk Access.
- In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, turn on NotchMind.
- Quit and reopen NotchMind if the feature doesn’t start straight away.
What it reads
Only what those features need, on your Mac: new messages and mail to show them, and your Focus settings. NotchMind doesn’t upload your messages or mail. With Smart Mode on, the Inbox page sends one message’s sender, subject and a short preview only when you choose Ask Smart on it.
