See and eject external drives from the notch

NotchMind shows when a USB drive, SSD or disk image connects, lets you eject it with one click and confirms when it's safe to disconnect.

Checked against the app on

When a drive connects

Plug in a USB stick, an SSD or a memory card and the notch shows its name. Click the eject button to eject it without opening Finder. When it’s done, the notch says Safe to disconnect.

Settings

In Settings → Notifications → External Drives:

  • External drive notifications turns these on or off.
  • Disk images (.dmg) also shows disk images you open, such as app installers. Turn it off if those get in the way.
  • Eject notifications shows the confirmation when a drive is safely ejected.
  • External Drives under Notification duration sets how long the notice stays.

Seeing two notices?

macOS may show its own banner too. To avoid duplicates, turn off Finder’s drive notifications in System Settings → Notifications. NotchMind’s Settings button there opens the right place.
