How to never miss your next meeting on a Mac

Get reminded before meetings on a Mac: Calendar alerts, the Up Next widget, and your next event in the MacBook notch, with Google and Outlook calendars too.

Calendar alerts

The Calendar app can alert you before each event. Set a default in Calendar → Settings → Alerts, or per event in the event’s details. Make sure Calendar notifications are allowed in System Settings → Notifications → Calendar.

Add your work calendars

Google, Microsoft 365 and other calendars show in the Calendar app once you add the account in System Settings → Internet Accounts with Calendars on.

The Up Next widget

Add Calendar’s Up Next widget to Notification Centre or your desktop via Edit Widgets, so your next event is always a click away.

In the notch

NotchMind, which I make, shows your next event in the MacBook notch shortly before it starts, from 1 hour to the moment it begins, your choice. Turn on Privacy mode to show only the time, without titles, while you share your screen. When the meeting starts and Zoom, Teams or Meet opens your microphone, the notch switches to the call with a mute button. See calendar in the notch and calls in the notch.
