NotchMind is signed with an Apple Development certificate but isn’t notarized by Apple yet. So the first time you open it, macOS shows a message such as “NotchMind” Not Opened or Apple could not verify “NotchMind” is free of malware. That’s expected, and you approve it once.
Approve it
- In the message, choose Done. Don’t choose Move to Trash.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to Security. You’ll see a line about NotchMind being blocked. Choose Open Anyway.
- Authenticate with your password or Touch ID.
- In the next message, choose Open Anyway again.
NotchMind opens, and macOS remembers your choice. Updates don’t ask again.
No Open Anyway button?
- The button appears for about an hour after you try to open the app. Open NotchMind from Applications again, then go back to Privacy & Security.
- Make sure you’re opening the copy in Applications, not the one on the disk image.
- On a work Mac managed by your company, the button may be hidden by policy. Ask your IT team.
If the message says “malware” or “will damage your computer”
Stop. That’s a different message from the one above, and it isn’t the Open Anyway path. Delete the download and get NotchMind again from the official download page. If it happens again, contact support.
What not to do
Don’t turn off Gatekeeper, and don’t use Terminal commands to remove quarantine flags. They lower protection for every app, and Open Anyway only approves this one.
